June 29, 2018
Tokyo- Kei Komuro, the fiance of Japanese Princess Mako, the eldest granddaughter of Emperor Akihito, will move to the United States around summer to study law, informed sources said Friday.
Komuro, 26, a commoner who works at a law firm in Japan, will stay in the United States for around three years, the sources said.
Komuro and Princess Mako, also 26, the first daughter of Prince Akishino, announced their engagement in September last year.
But in February this year, it was announced that their marriage and related ceremonies will be put off until 2020 for lack of preparation.
Komuro is set to study at a law school in New York for bar qualification. He will stay on as a member of the law firm and resume his work there after returning to Japan, the sources said.
In Yokohama, near Tokyo, Komuro was seen leaving home to go to work Friday morning. Reporters asked whether there has been any change in his intention to marry the princess, but he did not answer. Jiji Press
