Japanese Tea Ceremony Held in Hanoi for Peace

Hanoi- A traditional Japanese tea ceremony was held on Tuesday at Hanoi Opera House in the Vietnamese capital to pray for world peace.

The ceremony was hosted by Sen Genshitsu, 95, former grand master of the Urasenke tea ceremony school, as part of events to mark the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Japan and Vietnam.

Sen called for the two countries to "make efforts for peace together as real friends."

Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Kunio Umeda said in a speech, "I expect tea to help deepen mutual understanding between Japan and Vietnam."

Separately, Sen participated in an opening ceremony for the Southeast Asian country's first tea ceremony room donated by the Urasenke school to a major Vietnamese information technology firm. Jiji Press
