Tokyo- The Japanese Financial Services Agency said Monday it has appointed Jaime Caruana, former general manager of the Bank for International Settlements as adviser.
The agency aims to get advice from Caruana, who has broad experience with international institutions, as the country hosts a series of international meetings next year as chair of the Group of 20 leading economies. The meetings include a G-20 summit slated for June in the western city of Osaka.
Caruana's term as FSA adviser will last until the end of 2019.
He served in such posts as governor of the Bank of Spain and chair of the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision before taking the helm of the BIS from 2009 to 2017. Jiji Press
