Japan’s Kono to Visit India, Nepal, France

Tokyo--Japanese Foreign Minister Taro Kono will visit India, Nepal and France on a six-day tour from Jan. 7 next year, the Foreign Ministry said Friday.
In France, Kono will attend a so-called two-plus-two meeting of the Japanese and French foreign and defense ministers, which will be held on Jan. 11 in the city of Brest, where the country's largest military port is located.
He will also hold separate strategic talks with his French counterpart, Jean-Yves Le Drian.
In India and Nepal, Kono plans to meet with the foreign minister of each country.
He is making arrangements to visit Russia to hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov after the three-nation tour through Jan. 12.
Japanese Defense Minister Takeshi Iwaya will visit France for four days from Jan. 9. In addition to attending the two-plus-two meeting, he will hold separate talks with his French counterpart, Florence Parly. Jiji Press
