Kim Jong Un Deaf to Moon’s Request to Resolve Abduction Issue: Yamasaki

Tokyo- North Korean leader Kim Jong Un gave no response to South Korean President Moon Jae-in's request to resolve the issue of Pyongyang's abductions of Japanese citizens decades ago, at their summit on April 27, it was learned on Tuesday.
Taku Yamasaki, former vice president of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, revealed in a speech in Tokyo that he was told by South Korean Prime Minister Lee Nak-yeon during his visit to South Korea from April 30 to May 2 that Kim did not reply to the request.
According to Yamasaki, Lee urged Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe to have a tete-a-tete meeting with Kim.
The South Korean prime minister was also quoted as saying that the United States will likely guarantee the Kim's regime if he agrees on complete, verifiable and irreversible denuclearization at the U.S.-North Korea summit on June 12. Jiji Press
