Knives Found on Japanese Prince Hisahito’s School Desk

April 28, 2019

Tokyo- Two fruit knives had been placed on the desk of Japanese Prince Hisahito at his junior high school in Tokyo, police sources said Saturday.

The knives with pink-painted blades were found while being held together with a stick around noon on Friday (3 a.m. GMT), according to the sources.

Security camera footage show a man wearing a helmet and apparent blue work clothes entered the school around that time.

The knives were apparently placed while the 12-year-old son of Prince Akishino and Princess Kiko and his classmates were outside their classroom, the sources said.

Tokyo's Metropolitan Police Department is searching for the man on suspicion of trespassing.

Prince Hisahito will become second in line to the Imperial throne after the enthronement of Crown Prince Naruhito, the elder brother of Prince Akishino, set for Wednesday. Prince Akishino will be first in line.

Earlier this month, Prince Hisahito was enrolled in Ochanomizu University Junior High after graduating from Ochanomizu University Elementary School. Jiji Press
