Tokyo- The Tokyo metropolitan government is making preparations to introduce a full smoking ban inside its buildings in April, Governor Yuriko Koike said Sunday.
"We'll stop the use of all smoking rooms at all our offices and facilities and take thorough measures against passive smoking across the metropolitan government," she said.
Koike made the remark in a speech at an international meeting to stamp out secondhand smoke held ahead of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics.
The metropolitan government plans to set an ordinance to strengthen measures against passive smoking.
