Koike to skip memorial address for Koreans killed in 1923 quake
August 25, 2017
TOKYO- Tokyo Governor Yuriko Koike will not send a memorial address for an annual ceremony to mourn for Koreans who died in the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake, including those murdered amid postdisaster chaos, it was learned Thursday.
The event is held mainly by a civic group on the Sept. 1 anniversary of the quake every year at a park in Tokyo's Sumida Ward. Past governors, including Shintaro Ishihara, sent their addresses in response to requests from the organizer side. Jiji Press
