Kono Expresses Japan’s Support for Iran Nuclear Deal
May 9, 2018
Tokyo- Foreign Minister Taro Kono expressed on Tuesday Japan's support for the July 2015 nuclear deal signed between Iran and six major countries, including the United States.
At a press conference, Kono said that Tokyo's position of supporting the nuclear deal "has not changed at all as of this moment."
Kono made the remark in response to U.S. President Donald Trump's plan to announce his decision on whether his country will withdraw from the deal.
Kono also said that he conveyed Japan's stance of supporting the nuclear deal to U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo when the two held a meeting at the end of April this year in Jordan. Jiji Press
