July 19, 2017
WASHINGTON- Toshihiro Nikai, the visiting secretary-general of Japan's ruling Liberal Democratic Party, on Tuesday agreed with US lawmakers on the need to strengthen their countries' alliance further.
Nikai met with Senate President Pro Tempore Orrin Hatch (R-Utah), House of Representatives Armed Services Committee Chairman Mac Thornberry (R-Texas) and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-California), respectively.
Nikai said he discussed with Thornberry security in the Asia-Pacific region, including North Korea's nuclear and missile development programs.
They shared a view that China needs to work harder to play a constructive role in the international community, according to Nikai.
Nikai also held talks with Chinese Ambassador to the United States Cui Tiankai. (Jiji Press)
