Mobile Phone Rates 2 Times Higher Than OECD Average: Suga
August 27, 2018
Tokyo- Mobile phone rates in Japan are about two times higher than the average in the member countries of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Monday.
Suga made the remark to back his claim that mobile phone rates could be cut by 40 pct.
Pointing to plans by cybermall operator Rakuten Inc. to launch mobile communications services at about half of the rates of existing mobile phone carriers, Suga insisted that cutting rates is possible if operators compete properly.
Suga reiterated the government's intention to make efforts to realize services at rates that are reasonable and easy to understand for users. Jiji Press
