MRJ Conducts 1st Demonstration Flight
July 17, 2018
Farnborough, Britain- The Mitsubishi Regional Jet, the first Japanese-developed small-sized passenger aircraft, conducted a demonstration flight for the first time on Monday at the Farnborough International Airshow in Britain.
By showcasing a flight of the MRJ in front of industry people from around the world, Mitsubishi Aircraft Corp., the manufacturer of the plane, hopes to dispel concerns over development delays.
Mitsubishi Aircraft has carried out a number of test-flights of the MRJ, but this was the first demonstration flight before the general public.
In the demonstration, Mitsubishi Aircraft used a jet painted in an All Nippon Airways livery. The manufacturer plans to deliver the first MRJ to ANA.
The company displayed an MRJ model at the 2017 Paris Air Show but did not conduct a demonstration flight.
Mitsubishi Aircraft has put off the start of MRJ delivery five times. It currently aims for the first delivery in the middle of 2020. Jiji Press
