N. Korea’s atmospheric re-entry tech not perfect yet: Onodera
September 9, 2017
TOKYO- North Korea has not yet completed its development of atmospheric reentry technology necessary for intercontinental ballistic missiles, Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera said Saturday.
Speaking to reporters at the Defense Ministry, Onodera pointed out that Pyongyang abruptly mentioned an electromagnetic pulse (EMP) attack in its announcement last Sunday of development of a new hydrogen bomb.
"They appeared to say that they can conduct such a horrific attack even if they don't have atmospheric reentry technology," the minister said.
Onodera noted that EMP attacks have not become a practical option for any countries. Jiji Press
