Original Moritomo Papers Total 3,000 Pages: Aso

Tokyo- Japanese Finance Minister Taro Aso said Friday that original documents related to the controversial huge discount sale of a state land plot to private school operator Moritomo Gakuen total 3,000 pages.

The ministry has put off the submission of the original documents to the Diet, the country's parliament, from the day to Wednesday next week.

Aso told a press conference that the postponement was because the ministry is taking time checking the huge volume of documents. The ministry has been under fire for falsifying the documents on the sale in 2016 of the land in Osaka Prefecture, western Japan, to Moritomo.

The ministry will prioritize investigations into the document tampering, but will also probe records on negotiations with Moritomo on the deal, Aso also said. Jiji Press
