Parliament to discuss N. Korea’s nuclear test on Tuesday

TOKYO- Japanese ruling coalition officials on Monday agreed to hold an off-session meeting of a House of Representatives committee on Tuesday to discuss a response to North Korea's latest nuclear test.
The officials from the Liberal Democratic Party and its junior coalition partner, Komeito, agreed that the debates will take place at the Lower House Committee on Foreign Affairs.
The House of Councillors, the upper chamber, is also expected to hold an off-session meeting of its Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Tuesday for debates on the North Korean situation.
The two committees are expected to adopt resolutions harshly condemning the sixth nuclear test by North Korea.
"The nuclear test was an act of violence that Japan cannot tolerate as the only country in the world to have suffered nuclear attacks," Hiroshi Moriyama, LDP parliamentary affairs chief, told reporters. Jiji Press
