Passengers evacuated after fire spreads to train in Tokyo

TOKYO- About 300 passengers were evacuated after a fire spread to a train from a nearby building in central Tokyo on Sunday.
The passengers were instructed to get off the train and walked about 500 meters on the rail tracks to nearby stations on an Odakyu Electric Railway Co. line. No one was injured, according to police and other sources.
The fire burned about 15 square meters of the roof of the second car in the eight-car train, which was bound for Shinjuku Station from Honatsugi Station.
The fire started at a three-story building in Shibuya Ward around 4:05 p.m. (7:05 a.m. GMT) and spread to the train when it was brought to an emergency stop near the building. Jiji Press
