Power failure temporarily halts JR train services in Tokyo area
September 5, 2017
TOKYO- Train services were halted for up to about 40 minutes due to a power failure on seven East Japan Railway Co. lines in the Tokyo metropolitan area on Tuesday morning.
A total of 75 trains, including five limited express trains, were delayed, affecting some 41,000 passengers, according to the railway operator, better known as JR East.
The power failure was blamed on an operational error during maintenance and repair work at the company's substation near Warabi Station in the city of Warabi, Saitama Prefecture, north of Tokyo, the company said. Jiji Press
