Tokyo- Japanese Princess Aiko, the only child of Crown Prince Naruhito and Crown Princess Masako, will participate in her high school's study program in Britain from late July, the Imperial Household Agency said Friday.
The 16-year-old princess, who is in the second year at Gakushuin Girls' Senior High School, will stay in Britain for 19 days from July 22.
It will be her first visit abroad without her parents.
The program, offered during the school's summer break, will give Princess Aiko an opportunity to study English at Eton College, a famous public school, along with about 40 other students.
As part of the program, the princess will experience local culture through visits to famous places in London, Portsmouth, Oxford and elsewhere. Jiji Press
