November 21, 2017
TOKYO- A formal engagement ceremony for Japanese Princess Mako and her fiance Kei Komuro is likely to be set for March, sources at the Imperial Household Agency said Tuesday.
With Komuro's work schedule taken into account, chances are high that the "Nosai no Gi" betrothal ceremony, in which his messenger will present gifts to the family of the Princess, will be held on March 4, which is Sunday, the sources said.
The date of the Imperial ceremony will be fixed by the end of the year, they added.
The 26-year-old couple's wedding ceremony is expected to be held in autumn next year.
Princess Mako, the first daughter of Prince Akishino, the second son of Emperor Akihito, and Komuro, who currently works at a law firm, were classmates at International Christian University in Tokyo.
Their engagement was announced on Sept. 3. Jiji Press
