Russian Pres. Putin Invites N. Korea’s Kim to Int’l Economic Forum

Moscow- Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to the Eastern Economic Forum, the deputy speaker of the Russian lower house said Monday.
Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is scheduled to attend the international economic conference, set to be held in the Russian Far East city of Vladivostok on Sept. 11-13.
Chinese President Xi Jinping is also likely to take part in the Vladivostok meeting, according to a Russian media report.
During his visit to Pyongyang on Thursday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov handed Kim a letter from Putin officially asking the North Korean leader to visit Russia when the forum is held, Ivan Melnikov, first vice chairman of the State Duma, said at a meeting in Moscow with delegates from the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea.
