Sanctions on North Korea to be extended
March 29, 2017
TOKYO- The Japanese government plans to extend its own sanctions against North Korea by two years beyond their expiration on April 13, informed sources said Tuesday.
The extension is intended to keep pressure on Pyongyang to stop its provocative actions including ballistic missile launches, the sources said.
The cabinet is expected to approve the extension shortly, they said.
The sanctions include a ban on entry into Japanese ports of North Korean vessels and a blanket ban on trade with North Korea. Jiji Press
