Sharp to develop large organic EL displays

OSAKA- Sharp Corp. said Tuesday it plans to develop large organic electroluminescence display panels for television sets.
The Japanese company plans to spend some 57.4 billion yen to build production lines for organic EL displays at its plants in the city of Sakai, Osaka Prefecture, western Japan, and in the town of Taki, Mie Prefecture, central Japan.
The new production lines are expected to go into operation in April-June next year.
The company plans to mass-produce small and midsize such displays for laptops and smartphones at the plants. At the Sakai plant, it plans to promote the development of large displays for TVs. (Jiji Press)
