Tokyo--The Japanese government at a cabinet meeting Friday decided to hold three sets of events related to Emperor Naruhito's enthronement as acts of the Emperor in matters of state performed under the Constitution.
The three events are the "Sokuirei-Seiden-no-Gi," a key ceremony on Oct. 22 to proclaim his enthronement at home and abroad, the "Shukuga-Onretsu-no-Gi" parade on the same day and "Kyoen-no-Gi" celebratory banquets, which will be held a total of four times next month with attendance by foreign heads of state and other guests.
After the cabinet meeting, a meeting of the liaison headquarters organizing the ceremonies related to the Imperial succession was held at the prime minister's office.
"I want you to take full measures to prepare for the imminent events so that they will be held without problems amid celebrations by Japanese people," Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga told participants from related government ministries and agencies at the meeting. Jiji Press
