Toyota, Suzuki agree on mutual vehicle supply in India

Tokyo- Toyota Motor Corp. and Suzuki Motor Corp.said Thursday that they have reached a basic agreement on mutual supply of hybrid and other vehicles between the two Japanese automakers for the Indian market.
The agreement is part of a business partnership that the two companies formed in February last year.
Toyota is working together with its Daihatsu Motor Co. wholly owned unit in compact car business in emerging markets. For India, Toyota opted to team up with Suzuki, the top car seller in the fourth-largest auto market in the world.
Toyota and Suzuki will start mutual supply of their vehicles in India in the spring of 2019. Their respective local subsidiaries will sell them on their dealer networks.
Vehicles that Suzuki will supply to Toyota include its Vitara Brezza compact sport-utility vehicle and a hybrid model of its Baleno compact car.
Toyota, the sixth-largest car seller in India, will provide Suzuki with such vehicles as a hybrid model of its Corolla car. Jiji Press
