Los Angeles- Toyota Motor Corp. unveiled on Thursday the FT-AC compact sport-utility vehicle prototype that is capable of handling rough terrain and is equipped with cameras to record driving activity.
The new SUV will be showcased at the 2017 Los Angeles Auto Show, set to be open to the public from Friday.
Offering maximum outdoor enjoyment, videos and images taken with small infrared cameras attached to FT-AC's side mirrors will be automatically uploaded to cloud-based storage, Toyota officials said.
Drivers can enjoy editing the uploaded data using smartphones and posting them on social networking sites, Jack Hollis, group vice president of Toyota Motor North America Inc., said.
FT-AC employs a four-wheel-drive system that adjusts driving performance depending on the terrain.
The SUV's roof rack is equipped with light-emitting diode lights that can be controlled with smartphones, company officials said. Jiji Press
