Trump claims Abe nominated him for Nobel Peace Prize

Washington--U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Friday that Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe had nominated him for a Nobel Peace Prize.
"Prime Minister Abe of Japan gave me the most beautiful copy of a letter that he sent to the people who give out a thing called the Nobel Prize," Trump said at a press conference at the White House.
"He said, 'I have nominated you...' or 'Respectfully, on behalf of Japan, I am asking them to give you the Nobel Peace Prize,'" Trump said.
"It's the most beautiful...five-page letter," the U.S. president said.
"I'll probably never get it, but that's okay," he said of the prize.
On reasons why Abe had nominated him for the prize, Trump said Japan feels safe after he got North Korea to stop launching missiles.
"He had rocket ships and he had missiles flying over Japan. And they had alarms going off...Now, all of a sudden, they feel good, they feel safe. I did that," Trump said.
Trump did not say when he received the letter. Jiji Press
