Tokyo- U.S. President Donald Trump gave reassurances Monday that he will bring up the issue of Pyongyang's abductions of Japanese citizens at his meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un on Tuesday.
Trump told Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe by phone that there is a 100 pct guarantee that he will take up the abduction issue at the summit, Abe told reporters after the conversations.
Abe said Japan, the United States and South Korea are in full agreement on North Korea policies.
He added he hopes the U.S.-North Korea summit in Singapore will be a historic meeting that will be a big step forward toward peace and stability in Northeast Asia.
Speaking at a joint press conference with Abe after their meeting at the White House last week, Trump said the abduction issue will be discussed at the Singapore summit. Jiji Press
