August 23, 2018
Tokyo- U.S. President Donald Trump reiterated his commitment on Wednesday to cooperating with Tokyo to resolve North Korea's abductions of Japanese citizens, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe said.
Trump said he will continue to cooperate firmly in line with Japan's stance, Abe told reporters after their phone talks.
Abe said Trump made the comments after he called for the U.S. president's continued cooperation to resolve the abduction issue.
The Japanese prime minister said he and Trump discussed North Korea's nuclear, missile and abduction issues.
"Japan and the United States are fully in agreement with each other to achieve complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula," Abe said.
The two leaders did not discuss trade, a Japanese government source said. Jiji Press
