Typhoon-Hit Kansai Airport Restores Full Passenger Services

Osaka- Kansai International Airport in Osaka Prefecture, western Japan, has fully restored its passenger service function after its facilities were flooded by powerful Typhoon Jebi on Sept. 4, the airport's operator said Thursday.

With the recovery, the airport has restarted operations in full scale, Kansai Airports said.

According to the operator, part of the passenger baggage handling system used in the south side of the airport's Terminal 1 had not been fixed. The system, however, were restored in the early hours of Thursday and the operator confirmed the system's safety.

The measure to reroute some of the flight services departing from and arriving at the airport to Osaka International Airport at Itami, which straddles Osaka and Hyogo prefectures, and Kobe Airport, in Hyogo, finished the same day. Jiji Press
