U.S. to Probe Toyota, Others over Alleged Patent Infringement
June 8, 2018
Washington- The U.S. International Trade Commission said Thursday it will investigate alleged in-car system patent infringement by Toyota Motor Corp., Panasonic Corp. and other Japanese firms.
The probe will cover in-car infotainment systems and their components sold in the United States by Toyota, Panasonic, Renesas Electronics Corp., Denso Ten Ltd. and their respective U.S. units as well as Japan Radio Co.
The ITC decided to launch the investigation after major U.S. chipmaker Broadcom Corp. filed a complaint alleging the Japanese makers' violations of Section 337 of the 1930 Tariff Act.
The commission will set the completion date for the investigation within 45 days after the start of the probe. If it finds patent infringement, it will issue remedial orders.
The orders will become final within 60 days after their issuance unless disapproved by the U.S. trade representative, the ITC said. Jiji Press
