Women in Toyama top beautiful skin rankings in Japan

TOKYO- Women in Toyama Prefecture have the most beautiful skin in Japan, according to the results of this year's survey by major cosmetics maker Pola Inc. released Tuesday.

Toyama women topped the annual 47-prefecture beautiful skin rankings for the first time, earning high scores in categories such as on smooth texture and on whether it is blotch-free.

Toyama improved from the previous year's eighth place thanks to the high rainfall recorded in the central prefecture during the survey period, which helped moisturize skin, the unit of Pola Orbis Holdings Inc. said.

The 2017 list also showed that Toyama's neighbor Ishikawa rose from the previous year's sixth to second and Akira from fifth to third.

Meanwhile, Hiroshima, the 2016 winner, dropped to 10th, while Gunma was placed at the bottom of the list for the second consecutive year.

For the rankings, Pola analyzed skin data collected from some 660,000 women in all prefectures between September 2016 and August 2017. Jiji Press
