Women to make up half of FamilyMart’s new recruits for 2019
April 25, 2018
Tokyo- FamilyMart Co. aims to have women account for 50 percent of new graduates to be hired in the next spring, according to company officials.
The major Japanese convenience store chain hopes to adopt more women's viewpoints in developing new products to attract female customers further, the officials said.
As of April 1, women made up 13.2 percent of FamilyMart's total workforce. The company plans to increase the figure to 20 pct by the end of February 2021.
Given that female students in the job hunt tend to think it too tough to work in the round-the-clock convenience store industry, FamilyMart has opened a dedicated website to promote the company to those students. It will also let its officials visit women's colleges across the country to encourage them to file job applications. Jiji Press
