Xi’s talks with Japanese politicians hit Chinese front page
December 29, 2017
Tokyo- The Communist Party of China's flagship newspaper reported the latest meeting between President Xi Jinping and two executives from Japan's ruling coalition on the front page of its Friday edition.
The move by the People's Daily apparently reflected China's eagerness to improve ties with Japan.
Xi held talks with the Japanese politicians--Toshihiro Nikai, secretary-general of the Liberal Democratic Party, and Yoshihisa Inoue, his counterpart at Komeito, in Beijing on Thursday.
The daily quoted Xi as telling Nikai and Inoue of his hope that both sides will work to enhance party-level exchanges and fulfill their roles in improving bilateral relations. Jiji Press
