11-Yr-Old Japanese Becomes Youngest World Othello Champion

Tokyo- An 11-year-old Japanese boy has won the 42nd World Othello Championship, breaking the record for the youngest winner in the annual competition for the first time in 36 years, according to the Japan Othello Association.
Keisuke Fukuchi came out top in a field of 82 participants, including adults, in the championship held in Prague, Czech Republic, for four days through Friday.
The previous youngest winner was also Japanese, who won the title at the age of 15, the association said.
Fukuchi was taking part in the championship for the first time.
The fifth grader from Kanagawa Prefecture, south of Tokyo, faced off against a contender from Thailand in the tournament final, in which he won the last game 34-30, following a win and a tie in the first two games. Jiji Press
