Bic Camera to open outlet in Tokyo for teenage girls
November 27, 2017
Tokyo- Japanese electronics retailer Bic Camera Inc. will open an outlet on Tuesday in Tokyo's Harajuku shopping area targeting mainly teenage girls.
The BicCamera select Harajuku store will sell beauty appliances, including hair dryers and facial treatment devices, as well as cosmetics and stylish items such as smartphone cases, stationery and "Cheki" instant cameras.
Travel goods and souvenirs will also be available at the store, which is located on Takeshita Street, which is often crowded with both domestic and foreign travelers.
At the store, Bic Camera aims to promote impulse purchases such as by displaying shampoo products near hair dryers.
The new store will have one floor above ground and one below, with a total floor space of some 330 square meters.
The BicCamera select Harajuku store is the first of a new type of small-scale shop at which the company aims to sell items suitable for its location.
BicCamera, which has focused on large-scale stores in city areas, plans to boost efforts to open small-sized shops as it is facing difficulty finding appropriate properties in such areas. Jiji Press
