Taiwan- Two students checks cellphone in a university restaurant in Taipei, Taiwan, on Monday, March 26, 2018.
A joint study by Taiwan's Fooying University Hospital and Japanese researchers showed that long-time exposure to blue light from digital devices is harmful to the eye and health.
If a mouse is exposed to 12 hours of blue light for consecutive seven days, its retina will thicken and photoceptor cells will deteriorate and die, causing the mouse to go blind.
If a child is constantly exposed to blue light, the child's eyesight will be damaged within two to three years.
The study also found that long-time exposure to blue light triggers pre-cancer changes in kidney, liver and lungs in a mouse. EPA-Jiji Press
