Capsule toys in Japan
December 13, 2017
Capsule toys have been around in Japan for more than 40 years but the craze really took off in 2012 when Tokyo-based manufacturer Kitan Club launched "Koppu no Fuchico" ("Fuchico at the edge of a glass").
The miniature trinkets nestled inside plastic bubbles have enjoyed huge success by targeting adults as well as children and riding the wave of social media as the ultimate "Instagram-ready" accessory.
