Japan to Open Cafe near Akasaka Palace
September 19, 2018
Tokyo- The Cabinet Office said Tuesday that it will build a facility with a cafe in a park near the Akasaka Palace, Japan's state guest house, in Tokyo's Minato Ward.
The planned move comes as the palace, a popular tourist site, lacks a proper resting place for visitors, officials said.
The total cost to build the facility is estimated at around 2 billion yen. Construction work is scheduled to begin later this month and end in late March of 2020. Its opening is slated for May the same year.
As of August this year, a total of some 1.57 million people had visited the Akasaka Palace, which became available to the public in April 2016. Jiji Press
