November 9, 2018
Seoul--The scheduled appearance of South Korean pop group BTS on a popular music show on Japanese television on Friday night has been canceled, following media reports that a member of the group has worn a T-shirt with an image of an atomic-bombing.
The cancellation was announced on the official website of the seven-member male band's Japanese fan club on Thursday.
According to the announcement, the group and its record label decided to skip the appearance on TV Asahi's "Music Station" program after media reports on the T-shirt controversy.
The T-shirt in question reportedly included a printed monochrome image of an atomic bomb being dropped, along with an image of people celebrating liberation from the 1910-1945 Japanese colonial rule of the Korean Peninsula. Jiji Press
