Tokyo- The local meteorological observatory in the southwestern Japan city of Nagasaki said Wednesday that the blossoms of a Somei-Yoshino cherry tree it observes on its grounds have bloomed.
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, it was the first such cherry tree in Japan to blossom this spring.
It was the first time in 41 years for Nagasaki to be the earliest location in Japan to have blooming cherry blossoms, since 1978.
The Nagasaki observatory said that the cherry blossoms this year came out four days earlier than in an average year and three days later than they did last year. Jiji Press
