New Hotel Okura to Open in Tokyo in Sept. 2019
June 26, 2018
Tokyo- -Hotel Okura Co. said Monday that it will open new hotel facilities in Tokyo's Toranomon district in early September 2019.
The new facilities, located on the site of the former Hotel Okura, which closed in 2015 due chiefly to aging of the building and its fixtures, will consist of a 41-story building and a 17-story building.
The new hotel, The Okura Tokyo, will have a total of 508 rooms. Most rooms in the 41-story building are expected to cost 45,000 yen to 50,000 yen per night. Rooms in the 17-story building will cost around 70,000 yen.
The largest room in the hotel will be a suite measuring around 720 square meters. It will cost some 3 million yen per night. The 41-story building will also have office floors.
The new hotel will contain a reproduction of the former hotel's main lobby, which was popular thanks to its Japanese-style design.
With a Japanese rock garden taking up half of the 2.6-hectare site, Hotel Okura will make use of the country's traditional beauty to attract wealthy guests from overseas. Jiji Press
