Photo-Sharing App Launched to Help Atopic Dermatitis Patients
August 14, 2018
Toyko- A free smartphone app has been launched in Japan to help people with atopic dermatitis share information on treatment processes and medicines using photos.
The Atopiyo app was developed by a certified accountant who himself once suffered from atopic dermatitis, a stubborn type of eczema characterized by itchy skin rashes.
Atopic dermatitis is caused by a variety of factors including genetics, food allergies and ticks. Symptoms vary between individuals.
The app was created to respond to calls from patients eager to know ways to treat similar symptoms, according to the developer.
Users take photos of the affected part of the body and post them on the app under anonymity. The app has space to write about users' ages, medicines used and dietary patterns.
By sharing photos, users can visually notice an improvement in other patients' conditions.
The app can be downloaded from Apple Inc.'s App Store.
"I hope that the app will help improve patients' conditions through visualization," said the developer, who said he was inspired by Instagram to develop it. Jiji Press
