Record 1.35 M. Japanese Living Abroad

Tokyo- The number of Japanese living overseas for at least three months as of October last year grew 1.0 pct from a year earlier to 1,351,970, hitting a record high, the Foreign Ministry said Thursday.
Of the total, the largest number of Japanese people lived in the United States, at 426,206, up 1.1 pct, followed by China, at 124,162, down 3.1 pct, and Australia, at 97,223, up 5.0 pct.
The number of Japanese companies operating overseas increased 5.2 pct to a record high of 75,531. Jiji Press
