Sharp to Release World’s 1st TVs with 8K Tuners

Osaka- Sharp Corp. said Monday that it will release the world's first televisions with built-in tuners that are able to receive 8K superhigh-definition broadcasts on Nov. 17.
The Japanese company's Aquos 8K comes with three screen sizes--60 inches, 70 inches and 80 inches. They are expected to cost between 810,000 yen and 2.16 million yen.
Sharp's plans comes as 8K broadcasting is scheduled to start in Japan in December.
The company will showcase the new products for the first time at CEATEC Japan, a major electronics and information technology show set to kick off on Tuesday in the city of Chiba near Tokyo.
Sharp will also release 8K tuners and recorders. It will offer a wide variety of options to enjoy 8K images, a company official said. Jiji Press
