October 18, 2017
TOKYO- Sony Mobile Communications Inc. will launch a communication robot that enables users to check while staying out how their children and elderly family members are doing at home and have video chats with them.
The robot, named "Xperia Hello!," will be released on Nov. 18, the company said Tuesday. It will have a price tag of 161,870 yen.
Remotely operated by smartphones, the robot identifies the faces of registered family members with a camera placed on top of its body, which is some 22 centimeters tall. For instance, the robot sends to users' smartphones reports on until when children were nearby.
With smartphones, users can also order the robot to take 360-degree photos and have chats with family members via the device. Jiji Press
