Sudo Wins 5th Straight Title in N.Y. Hot Dog Eating Contest
July 6, 2018
New York- Miki Sudo extended her winning streak in the annual Nathan's Famous hot dog eating contest in New York to a fifth year on Wednesday.
At the July Fourth event on the Coney Island boardwalk, the 32-year-old Las Vegas competitive eater downed 37 hot dogs in 10 minutes, overwhelming runner-up Michelle Lesco, 34, who ate 28 wieners and buns.
Although she was able to defend the title for the fourth time, Sudo was not fully satisfied, for she failed to rewrite her personal best of 41 franks and buns.
"I couldn't eat that many because it was muggy," Sudo said in Japanese, while vowing efforts to win next year, again.
In the men's division, Joey Chestnut, 34, won his 11th title after downing a record 74 hot dogs in 10 minutes, two hot dogs more than the previous record, also set by him. Jiji Press
