Takashimaya Opens Japan’s Biggest Robot Sales Space
October 9, 2018
Osaka- Major department store chain Takashimaya Co. on Monday opened one of Japan's biggest selling spaces for robots at its outlet in the western city of Osaka.
The 60-square-meter space, the second robot-selling place for Takashimaya, sells 80 to 90 items, including robots that converse with users and fold laundry as well as artificial intelligence speakers and robot construction kits.
The size and the number of sales items are more than double the levels at Takashimaya's first robot-selling space, which opened in September last year at the Shinjuku store in Tokyo.
"Information technology-related knowledge will be even more important in the future," said a corporate employee of Osaka who visited the new selling space with his elementary school-age child.
"We're glad we had an opportunity to interact with robots," the 40-year-old man said. Jiji Press
