October 10, 2018
Kyoto- Nihon Michelin Tire Co., the Japanese unit of French tire maker Michelin SA, has said that Tottori Prefecture will be featured for the first time in its restaurant and hotel guide for western Japan.
The newest edition of the guidebook covering the western prefectures of Osaka and Kyoto will be released with the addition of Tottori on Friday for 3,240 yen, including tax, the firm said on Tuesday.
Tottori will be the 19th area in the country covered by the renowned annual guidebook.
Paul Perriniaux, head of Nihon Michelin, said in Japanese at a press conference that he had wanted to introduce Tottori in the book as the western prefecture has amazing cuisine.
He added that Tottori was included in the edition for Osaka and Kyoto in view of its economic ties with the Kansai region, where the two prefectures are located.
A total of 98 restaurants and hotels in Tottori will appear in the new book.
Of them, two will be awarded two stars, while four will have a one-star rating. There will be no facility with a three-star rating.
The Michelin guide for Osaka and Kyoto has been published every year since 2009 and the latest edition for 2019 will mark the 10th year.
Kikunoi and two other facilities in Kyoto will maintain their three-star ratings for the 10th year in a row. Jiji Press
