August 30, 2018
Tokyo- The "Senkyaku Banrai Shisetsu" commercial facility for visitors is expected to open on a site adjacent to Tokyo's new wholesale market in Toyosu, Koto Ward, in the fiscal year through March 2024.
According to the metropolitan government, construction of the private-sector facility will start in October 2020, after the opening of the Toyosu market, which will take over the functions of the aging Tsukiji market in Chuo Ward, in October this year.
Ahead of the construction start, the Tokyo government plans to hold events on the site targeting tourists in cooperation with Toyosu market people. From 2020, makeshift outlets are scheduled to sell food products from the market on the site. Jiji Press
