10 armed men killed, 8 wounded in Sultan Kudarat encounter

Ten people were killed and eight were wounded in a clash between the Army and lawless elements in Sitio Mantisao, Bual village here at 6:30am. The troops of the 33rd Infantry Battalion and local police were serving a search warrant when they were fired upon by heavily-armed gunmen, triggering a heavy exchange of fire. "The bandits were occupying fortified positions with machinegun emplacements and running trenches. They were ready to confront the security forces," said Lt Col Harold Cabunoc, commander of the 33rd IB, in a statement Friday.. The troops capured a bandit named Abdul Magid Logioman aka Black Moro, 41, and seized an M653 rifle. Sgt David Desidario of the Division Recon Company was injured but was promptly treated by the Army medics. He was declared out of danger by physicians in a local hospital. Residents of Chua village, Bagumbayan town had earlier filed a resolution, requesting law enforcement operation against the lawless elements who threatened the residents. DMS
